Laguna Phuket Golf Club formerly the Banyan Tree has won a string of awards for its golf course, club house and resort facilities, recent renovations work and design by Max Wexler and David Abels have transformed it into a first-rate golfing experience. Placing more sand bunkers, adding water hazards have forced golfers to play more accurate shots with their iron play. The greens relatively large and welcoming have been rebuilt to make them truer and faster to add more spice to the short game. The rolling fairways on this par 71 18 hole Laguna Golf Course gently wind their way through groves of coconut palms, tranquil lagoons with water featuring on 13 holes, you will be severely punished for wayward play. For those interested in long drives you are able to cut a few corners, giving you more time to look at panoramic views of lush green hills leading out to Bang Tao Bay in the Andaman Sea. The finishing 2 holes, both par fives, are the most challenging the monster 612 yard 17th, requiring you to play at least twice over water and the 527 yards par five 18th hole are definitely a challenge to finish your round with a respectable score. Facilities include a driving range, 2,500 square meter putting green, chipping green and practice bunkers. The modest clubhouse provides a first class restaurants with a well-stocked Pro-shop. It is also conveniently located in the Laguna area, which makes for easy transportation for those staying at any of the areas luxury Phuket hotels.
